Dear lovely Taiwanese students at NTU.
 
I am in a very sad and frustrated position right now. I have just finished five AMAZING months and NTU and during my stay in Taiwan I have met a lot of wonderful, amazing people. I always told my friends in Denmark that Taiwan has some of the nicest people in the world. And it is true! I have come to love your amazing country a LOT! In the beginning of September I moved into the Chang Shing dorm at NTU since I wanted to live close to the other exchange students and have a social life.

Encouraged by the commercial sector(部門), the secular(現世的.長期的) celebration of Christmas is popular in Japan, though Christmas is not a national holiday. Gifts are exchanged and children's presents are left next to their pillow(枕頭) at night. Christmas parties are held on and around Christmas Day; a unique feature of these celebrations is the Japanese type of Christmas cake, often a white whipped cream cake with strawberries. Christmas lights decorate buildings and trees during Christmastime, and Christmas trees adorn living areas. Christmas Eve has become a holiday for couples to spend time together and exchange gifts.

Motivating Yourself to Travel
Fear keeps most people from traveling. When I first went away in 2006, people told me they wished they could do what I was doing. For some people it is easy to just jump ship and travel. We have it in us all along and we just need a gentle nudge (/nʌdʒ/（用肘）輕推，輕觸). For me, all it took was a trip to Thailand and jealousy before I was quitting my job to go travel. For others, it is a lot harder. They are more tied down, more afraid, more uncertain. They want to do it but, instead the nudge I needed, they need a full on push.
